Statewide Articulations

This page contains information about four different types of statewide articulations:

"Statewide articulations" are developed at the state level, rather between Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) and one university. "Statewide articulations" include all of the public community colleges in Florida.

A.S. to B.S. Statewide Articulation Agreements

These agreements specify FSCJ A.S. degree programs that will transfer to any Florida state university offering the program. The list only contains the A.S. to B.S. Statewide Articulation Agreements that FSCJ participates in. These agreements specify A.S. degree programs that will transfer to any Florida state university offering the matching bachelor's degree program, such as A.S. Nursing to B.S. Nursing (not all state universities have matching bachelor’s programs). Please note that only a few of FSCJ's A.S. degrees are included in this Statewide Articulation Agreement. For a complete list of A.S. to B.S. Statewide Articulation Agreements, please visit the Florida Shines website or view the Office of Articulation, Florida Department of Education Career Ladder Agreements.

Students may only transfer from the specific major to the specific major, i.e. A.S. Nursing to B.S. Nursing, as listed in the chart below. One cannot, for example, transfer an A.S. in Business Administration to a B.S. in Nursing. Students who have graduated with an A.S. prior to Fall 2000 are not eligible to participate in these specific Statewide Articulation Agreements, but are still eligible to apply for transfer to any college or university.

Applicants who qualify for this program are not guaranteed admission to limited access programs, such as Nursing, or programs that require specific grade point average in specific coursework.

The junior/senior years in a statewide articulated A.S. to B.S. programs are typically offered at the campus of the state university, and include the equivalent of two years of full-time coursework after completion of the A.S. degree.

Statewide Articulation Agreement for the A.A. Degree to a state university provides several benefits, including the following:

  1. All courses with satisfactory completion taken to meet A.A. requirements are protected under the provisions of the articulation agreement and will automatically transfer. This is not true of students without an A.A. degree.
  2. No additional general education courses are required when transferring with an A.A. degree. The A.A. General Education Requirements will have been met in the A.A. degree, thus allowing the A.A. graduate to transfer into the junior level at the state university, provided that the prerequisites for the major have also been satisfied as part of the A.A. degree electives.

Statewide Articulation Agreements for A.A. Degree to the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF)

The A.A. General Education Requirement articulation with participating independent colleges and universities in Florida is beneficial for A.A. students transferring to a private college or university in Florida. The State Board of Community Colleges has signed an articulation agreement with the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF).

The Agreement establishes the provisions for the transfer of Associate in Arts (A.A) degree students into private colleges and universities in Florida. The Agreement guarantees that community college Associate in Arts degree students will enter as juniors, receive 60 credit hours toward their bachelor’s degree and receive recognition for the general education core taken at the community college. Twenty-six Independent Colleges and Universities in Florida have recognized the ICUF Agreement.

For more information and list of ICUF Institutions, please visit the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF). (Best viewed in Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari.)

You may also visit the Florida Department of Education Office of Articulation website for additional agreements such as Dual Enrollment, Career and Technical Education agreements and other related information.

Statewide Articulation Agreements for A.A. Degree to other Private Colleges and Universities (that are not members of ICUF)

Some private colleges and universities that are not a member of ICUF have negotiated a Statewide Articulation Agreement for all community colleges in Florida. The Florida Department of Education Division of Community Colleges has signed an Articulation Agreement with a few additional specific private colleges and universities. The Florida Department of Education and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities has also signed a Nursing Articulation Agreement for community/state college students who transfer with an A.S. in nursing and are a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). For more information, please visit the Florida Department of Education Office of Articulation website.

Tips on transferring to a college without an articulation agreement

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) so many FSCJ courses should transfer to colleges and universities across the United States. However, it is up to each individual school to decide what courses they will and won't accept, especially if you transfer to a school outside of the state of Florida. If you are interested in transferring to an institution that FSCJ does not have an articulation agreement with, the first step would be to contact that school. The Admissions or Registrar staff should be able to tell you about their transfer policy. They may ask to see a copy of FSCJ's course descriptions to get an idea about the course. FSCJ's catalog is available online so the school can easily reference course information. Once you complete the courses you would need to request an official copy of your FSCJ transcript

If you are interested in an FSCJ Program of Study or a college/university major that is not listed, please contact an FSCJ advisor for more information.
