Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) is proud to announce that recent honors graduate Stacie Cregg has been selected as one of the 60 high-achieving community college students to receive the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke (JKC) Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, and one of only five recipients in Florida. The scholarship enables Scholars to complete their bachelor’s degrees at four-year institutions with a significantly reduced financial burden.
The Cooke Foundation works to increase access to affordable, high-quality educational opportunities for high-achieving students with financial needs. Creggs’ application stood out amongst a national competitive national pool, being recognized for her hard work, excellent academic performance and her passion for learning. In addition to financial support, recipients will receive personalized academic and career advising throughout their educational journey. They also join a nationwide network of more than 3,900 Cooke Scholars and Alumni and gain access to opportunities including internships, study abroad experiences and graduate school support resources.
This year, more than 1,300 students from community colleges nationwide applied for the scholarship. The 60 selected Scholars emerged from a competitive semifinalist pool of 485 students and were chosen based on academic achievement, leadership, perseverance and demonstrated potential.
“I am truly honored and excited to be selected as a Cooke Scholar,” said Cregg. “This scholarship provides an incredible opportunity to continue my education and pursue my goals with greater confidence and support.”
“We congratulate Ms. Cregg, the College’s very first Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship recipient, on this well-deserved award,” said College President John Avendano, Ph.D. “Stacie has been a remarkable student at FSCJ, making a strong impact with her instructors and peers. We are incredibly proud of her and wish her all the best in this next step in her educational journey.”
