March and April are busy months here. With Spring Break coming up March 19-25, I wanted to make sure everyone got plenty of notice to get stories and interviews before the end of Spring Term. Final exams begin April 30 and Commencement is May 5! Highlighted here are links to some pretty exciting events and people at Florida State College.

See the Florida State College Award-Winning Forensics Team in action March 14 at 7 p.m. or March 28 at 7 p.m.. Two teammates won three state championships in competition against larger four-year colleges.

For students who are looking for a more typical education, but still need to figure out how to finance it, Florida State College has launched www.savethemoolah.com, an online resource that offers facts and figures on the best ways to afford college. Live presentations also offer students expert advice and tips that will help them NOT be part of the impending student debt crisis.

Is anyone in your audience looking for a job? Thought so. North Campus Career Fair March 15 has at least 21 employers looking for employees.

Is anyone in your audience interested in the Arts? Thought so. The Arts are alive and well in Northeast Florida and especially at Florida State College at Jacksonville so take your pick. NEXT STEPS Fifteenth Annual Spring Dance Concert presented by danceWORKS, March 16-17 brings the talents of five unique choreographers working with Florida State College's exceptional troupe of dancers.

The Jacksonville Watercolor Society has its Opening Reception and Awards presentation on April 1 at the North Campus Gallery. The 2012 Spring Show will be juried by David Daniels, a professor of Art at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. and private art instructor from his Maryland studio. Free and open to the public.

Is anyone in your audience a Doonesbury fan? Yes, Garry Trudeau, Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of Doonesbury, columnist and veterans' advocate will be at the Sawgrass Marriot, April 12, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with a book signing afterwards. $50 in advance only. Luckily for non-conference attendees there are a few seats left to hear his keynote luncheon address at the 23rd International Conference on College Teaching and Learning. Is anyone in your audience interested in drama? How about murder? How about R-rated language? A mysterious murder in a small Missouri town is the subject of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson's "Book of Days." It is Wilson's homage to Thornton Wilder's "Our Town."
