How do politicians' personal lives play into the public arena? Should they?

Nov 1, 2022, 10:58 AM
It's two days before the South Carolina primary and a potential bombshell drops on a major candidate. Will it affect voters' reactions, and how?

Political Science Professor Marcella Washington, Ph.D., assesses the potential affect of Newt Gingrinch's ex-wife alleging his request for a non-traditional family arrangement. Washington discusses with WJXT Morning Show Anchor Staci Spanos whether it's appropriate for media to question individual candidates on their personal lives, whether the public has a right to know about certain aspects of public figures' lives, whether those revelations affect how people vote, and who in the public arena, if anyone, is exempt from questioning.
