FSCJ Hosts Guest Artist and Lecturer Dr. George Hart at South Gallery

Nov 1, 2022, 10:59 AM
Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will host a lecture from Dr. George Hart, who will discuss his work creating 3-D sculptural forms using software visualization of mathematical algorithms.
WHAT:

Dr. Hart is a sculptor and applied mathematician who will demonstrate how mathematics can be cool and creative in unexpected ways.

He will also teach workshops on January 20-21 and create a large-scale sculpture with FSCJ students.

Dr. Hart’s research explores innovative ways to use computer technology in the design and fabrication of his artwork, which has been exhibited widely around the world.

He will present examples of his mathematically informed sculptures and also show a variety of related work from his creative output, including mathematical puzzles, insightful videos, hands-on workshop activities and exhibits at the Museum of Mathematics in New York City—all means to demonstrate that math is a living, creative and joyful subject.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend this free lecture.
