FSCJ hosts Astronomy Day 2017

WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) invites the community to attend 2017 Astronomy Day: Your Place in the Universe.

The family-friendly event will include student demonstrations, “How-To” talks and a talk from Astronomy Magazine Senior Editor Michael Bakich. Bakich has been integrally involved in planning for the August 2017 total solar eclipse. He serves on the American Astronomical Society Steering Committee for the eclipse and will be hosting the world’s largest eclipse viewing event.

  • Short “How-To” Talks

      - Find Constellations

      - Buy Binoculars and Telescopes

      - Observe the Moon

      - Observe Planets

      - Observe Deep Sky Objects

      - Take Simple Astronomical Photographs

7:30 p.m. 

  • “The 2017 Total Solar Eclipse” – Michael Bakich, Astronomy magazine Senior Editor
  • Observing after talk, weather permitting
