Jax 4 Kids.com, The Museum of Science and history, City of Jacksonville, St. Johns RiverKeeper and FSCJ add another fun, educational annual event to an already crowded weekend.

Mayor Alvin Brown got his geek on ... not really, but he did offer words of appreciation and encouragement  to the exhibitors and attendees of the first Jacksonville Science Festival. With more than 35 interactive science booths, including those from FSCJ, the St. Johns Riverkeeper, Museum of Science and History (MOSH) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the Jacksonville Science Festival brought its mission to encourage interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) to all the members of the community. The booths offered a variety of science topics, like sustainable building science, the Mars Landing, a walk-thru volcano, and the science of chocolate.  The free event was a collaboration with k-12 grade students, major arts, science, and environmental organizations, local businesses, universities and the public. The festival encourages education and helps the growth of the economy by stimulating new interest and careers in 21st century jobs. Days one and two were presented at The Foundation Academy, with the third and final day wrapping up at Florida State College's South Campus. Reported by WTEV CBS 47 on April 29, 2013 at 6 & 7 a.m.
