FSCJ to Host Educator Preparation Institute Information Session

WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will host an information session for the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI), an alternative certification route toward becoming a teacher in the state of Florida.

During the information session, guests will be introduced to faculty and staff, receive an overview of the program and will have the opportunity to speak individually with program leadership.

EPI courses are offered online or as a hybrid of online and face-to-face meetings for flexibility. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to earn the Florida Department of Education Professional Educator Certificate in their area of interest.

To be admitted into the EPI program, participants must:

• Have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university (degree should not be in an education field)
• Have a passing score on the General Knowledge Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE)
• Have a passing score on the Subject Area Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE)
• Provide a Statement of Eligibility from the Florida Department of Education
• Pass a background check
• Provide official college transcript
• Interview with an EPI representative
• Submit a Residency Affidavit Form
• Submit a completed EPI application
