For students currently attending Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) but want to take course(s) at another college/university, FSCJ is your home institution. Students must contact an FSCJ academic advisor to ensure credits taken at another college/university will transfer back to FSCJ.
If the host institution is a Florida public institution, you will need to apply via FloridaShines.org If you are unsure if the institution is a Florida public institution, please visit FloridaShines.org for further information.
Before applying in Florida Shines:
1. Select the course(s) you want to take at the other college/university. To determine if a course requires prerequisites, consult the transient institution’s college catalog.
2. Contact an FSCJ academic advisor to ensure course transferability.
After discussing transient enrollment with your Academic Advisor:
3. Log into FloridaShines.org to complete a Transient Student Admissions Application.
4. The completed application will be electronically submitted to FSCJ for approval. After approval, the application will then be routed electronically to the transfer institution for processing. During this entire process, you will receive email notifications on the status of your application from each institution.
Note: Check the status of your application at any time by logging into FloridaShines.org. It may take up to 10 days, on average, for the home and transient institutions to complete the application process.
If your home institution is a private Florida institution or out of state institution, you will need to submit a transient request form.
Completed Transient Request forms may be submitted to any campus Advising Center or by:
Transient Student Request forms will receive an approval or denial response within 10 business days after receipt of the request form via the student’s email account. Please note that all transient requests must be submitted by the start of C session classes of each term.
