Students who are interested in a career in funeral services need to look no further than Florida State College at Jacksonville. Just ask one local father and son team. They both graduated from the program, and now own Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home in Orange Park.
Aaron T. Bivens, LFD sat down with us to talk about the industry. Funeral directors help families plan burial services, but they also offer comfort and support for grieving families. Not only is it a financially rewarding career, there is also the personal satisfaction and fulfillment of helping people in their time of need. As the ‘Baby Boomer’ generation ages, there is a high demand for funeral directors and embalmers.
Florida State College’s program prepares students for a career in the business. The associate degree program requires a minimum of two years of college education, but students who have completed all general education courses may be able to complete the program in a minimum of 16 months.
