Taking Stock In Kenny

Florida State College student Kenny Zodel reunites with his Take Stock in Children mentor Rita Kirkland and shares their heartwarming story with Florida State College Network. This is an interview you’ll want to see.

Take Stock in Children Nassau is a local chapter of the statewide non-profit organization that provides mentoring and scholarships for academically promising students from low-income families.

Money raised locally is used to buy scholarships through the Florida Prepaid College Foundation, which matches those purchases dollar-for-dollar.

The program currently serves 160 middle and high school students. 100 students have graduated from the program.

TSIC Nassau held a fundraiser December 2nd at Omni Amelia Island Plantation to raise money to keep the program running. The organization is also looking for volunteer mentors. 

TSIC Nassau is affiliated with Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Florida State College Foundation. The program is funded in part by a Florida Department of Education grant.I interviewed several volunteers about the program and why they donate their time to our kids.
