On the radio: FSCJ Prof. Carter Cheatum talks Aviation Education on WFOY's "Making the Grade"

Nov 1, 2022, 10:58 AM
Aviation Professor Carter Cheatum went live Sept. 11, 2013, with WFOY Radio 102.3 FM Host Kim Kendall, talking about FSCJ Aviation programs. State Senator Aaron Bean joined the conversation to talk about Cecil Center's possibilities a s a horizontal launch site, and why it's a logical, better choice than another Florida launch site.

Professor Carter Cheatum spent years as an air traffic controller. Some of that was time was spent working alongside Kim Kendall, now the host of WFOY 102.3 FM's "Making the Grade," Florida's first radio talk show solely addressing education issues. Professor Cheatum recalls being an air traffic controller on September 11, 2001 and the remarkable responsibility air traffic controllers were faced with once it was realized the USA was being attacked with hijacked planes being used as missiles. Plenty of time is devoted to Aviation programs at the FSCJ Aviation Center, and Senator Aaron Bean joins in by phone for a conversation about why the Cecil Center is an excellent candidate as a horizontal launch site, better even than Kennedy Space Center, for very good reasons. A move such as that could mean jobs and an economic boost for Northeast Florida. Much ground--or airspace--is covered in the interview, lasting 38 minutes.

Thanks to Kim Kendall, Carter Cheatum, Senator Aaron Bean and WFOY 102.3 FM.
