The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded grants to community colleges across the country for different training programs and two of those awards go to First Coast colleges.

Florida State College at Jacksonville will receive $1,142,481 and nearby St. Johns River State College will receive $945,133. Five other Florida colleges received grants.

The grants are part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program, which aims to train citizens in areas of manufacturing, transportation, health care, science, technology, engineering and math.
