The Florida State College Foundation partnered with the Jacksonville Public Library for the second annual My Favorite Cookbook event on October 27. This year’s event featured siblings, food journalists and cookbook authors, Matt and Ted Lee, who grew up and learned to cook in Charleston, South Carolina.

More than 300 guests attended the event and enjoyed dishes from 13 local premier restaurants, followed by an open Q & A program with the Lee brothers that was hosted by WJCT’s Karen Feagins.

The real highlight of the event though was the one-on-one time the celebrity chefs shared with FSCJ culinary students earlier in the day at North Campus. Students had the opportunity to prepare recipes from the Lee brothers’ cookbooks and learn valuable advice on starting careers in the food industry. This year, more than $15,000 was raised to benefit the culinary program at FSCJ.

The event provided an opportunity for guests to learn more about the culinary industry and share tips and tricks of the trade. FSCJ was so happy to have so many local restaurants participate and join in the mission to help FSCJ’s culinary students. The Lee brothers were inspiring teachers and guests of honor.

The Lee brothers have written and published three cookbooks, are contributing editors at Travel + Leisure and perform as on-air commentators for Cooking Channel’s Unique Eats. These are just some of the accomplishments of the Lee brothers.
