Get to know a little about our new member on our recruitment and enrollment team.

My name is Terry Hollingshead and I am the associate director of enrollment management overseeing recruiting for Florida State College at Jacksonville. I joined the FSCJ team in July and have had a fantastic and whirlwind first 100 days with the College. On my 100th day, I was able to represent FSCJ as a presenter for two sessions at the Jacksonville National College Fair presented by the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).

This annual fair brings more than 100 colleges to the Prime Osborn and gives college-minded students a one-stop shop for exploring college options, learning about financial aid and scholarships, as well as best practices for college admissions and transitioning to college life.  It was held on Saturday, October 10, and this year’s fair was attended by more than 6,000 high school students and their families.

The recruiting team was able to interact with many prospective FSCJ students, and the presentation rooms were filled to capacity. In my 10 years of working in admissions and recruiting, the experience of working on the committee to plan and execute the NACAC National College Fair will stand out as one of the most fulfilling. I am excited about what the future holds for myself, the recruiting team and FSCJ as a whole!

Fun Facts About Me:
1. I am a military brat. My father just retired in 2015 as a SGT Major from the U.S. Army.

  • May 2015, marked five years of living in Jacksonville. This is the longest I have ever lived in any state or city.

2. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University.

  •  I was a Japanese Culture and Language major for two years before switching my major to Social Policy with an emphasis in Urban Inequalities. I still speak a little (very rusty and grammatically incorrect) Japanese.

3. I earned a Master of Business Administration with the University of Phoenix where I worked for six years.

  • I proposed the idea for the “I AM A PHOENIX” slogan

4. I am currently attending Capella University for a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology

  • My ambition is to complete the program prior to my son beginning kindergarten. He is currently 2 1/2 years old.
