Legislators Propose Halt to Four-Year Degrees at Florida State Colleges; FSCJ Student Reacts

Florida legislators on the Appropriations Committee voted 18-1 to put on hold development of any new bachelor's degrees offered by schools in the 28-member Florida College System, based on the concern that colleges are infringing on university territory.
Florida State College at Jacksonville presently offers 10 bachelor degrees, with three new ones scheduled to begin in Fall 2014. While those programs won't be affected, FSCJ student and Deerwood Center Student Government Association President Jon Rader says students should be able to choose where they go and how much they spend.
