The fly-in and aviation center open house will honor veterans and their families and also offer free “Discovery Flights” for veterans.
The fly-in is designed for aviators to fly their planes to the airport for display and a “meet-and-greet” with other pilots and aviation enthusiasts. The college’s Aviation Center of Excellence will give guided tours of its aviation and air traffic control training center, with other activities and a dessert bar for children. The free discovery flights, held by Sunrise Aviation, allow veterans to discover if they have the aptitude and desire to learn to fly.
“There are jobs today with regional airlines waiting to be filled,” said Sam Fischer, FSCJ Aviation Program Manager. “While they will need to build up their flight time, Vets can take advantage of the GI bill to make their education very affordable and get started on the path to those jobs. The Fly-In/Open House is a great opportunity to come by and see what’s out there.”
Reservations are recommended for the veterans discovery flights by calling Sunrise Aviation at (904) 586-3660.
