Florida State College at Jacksonville's Wally Eaton, Ph.D., professor of Computer Engineering Technology, was the subject of an Oct. 30, 2013 article "'Spooky' kind of time like Halloween" by Times-Union columnist Mark Woods. Long before Eaton was a professor of network security and other classes at FSCJ (on the merits of which was recently recognized as a Center of Academic Excellence by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security); long before he was the City of Jacksonville's director of cyber security, before he worked for a company called Unisys, he was a guitarist in a Jacksonville-based band known as The Classics IV. The Classics IV had several top-10 hits, one of which was "Spooky." The hit from 1968 has become a Halloween standard, to the delight of Eaton and countless others. Read the Times-Union article for the history of the Spooky hit single and a little about Dr. Eaton's super, yet natural, careers.
