Locals lead Blue Wave volleyball

Florida State College at Jacksonville is moving on to the volleyball postseason, with help from a couple of local standouts.

Christ’s Church graduate Leah Mortensen recorded 37 assists and Orange Park’s Dyrenna Harris led with four blocks Thursday as the Blue Wave topped Indian River State College 25-17, 20-25, 25-16, 18-25 to seal FSCJ’s place at the National Junior College Athletic Association regional championships.

The Blue Wave (14-7) will serve as host for that tournament, set from Friday through Sunday at FSCJ South Campus.
