FSCJ to Host Business Speaker Series Event, “Cybersecurity is Everyone's Business: Why it Matters to You”

WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will host its next Business Speaker Series event, “Cybersecurity is Everyone's Business: Why it Matters to You,” to explore how the risk of compromised business and personal information is an ever-increasing reality that often creates devastating loss.

Featuring multiple workshops and a keynote address with live Q&A, this event will help attendees learn ways to protect themselves and their businesses, outsmart the offenders and build a digital defense plan.

Morning workshops include:

  • Antivirus Software and Antispyware
Presented by Gerard Hilgenberg, Professor of Information Technology, FSCJ
  • Cyber Insurance Coverage for Businesses: Can You Afford NOT to Have It?
Presented by Jon Lyon, Professor of Business, FSCJ
  • Strengthening Your Defenses: Minimize the Damage of an Online Attack through Authentication Hygiene
Presented by Daniel Sullivan, Information Security Director, First Florida Credit Union
  • WiFi and Mobile Security: How Safe are You?
Presented by Josh Susen, Director of IT Security, Formative Health
  • Take 10 - A High-level Checklist of the 10 Things that Small/Medium Businesses Can Work on to Improve Their Security Posture
Presented by Aaron Weiss, Owner/Analyst, Forensic Recovery, LLC

Prior to each session, attendees will be able to choose which workshop they wish to attend. Each workshop occurs twice, 10:10-11 a.m. and 11-11:55 a.m.

Following the workshops, Secure Ideas Chief Executive Officer Kevin Johnson, a renowned IT security expert, will present the keynote, “The Inside Man: Email Compromise and Business Identity Theft.”

All are welcome to attend this free virtual event. Online registration is required. Visit fscj.edu/business-speakers to register and learn more.

The Business Speaker Series was made possible by a $250,000 commitment from First Florida Credit Union to support initiatives that will help local students and community members become future business leaders. The funding helped launch the series and will bolster the College’s Financial Skills Academy.

WHEN: Thursday, April 22, 2021
10 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Online – Attendees will receive conference sign-on information following registration.
