FSCJ to Host Blocktoberfest 2019

FSCJ to Host Blocktoberfest 2019

 

WHAT:           Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) invites you to the ninth annual Blocktoberfest printing extravaganza, October 23-25, 2019.

 

                        Blocktoberfest is a printmaking event that features the production of large-scale block prints using a steamroller for the printing process. Students and faculty from FSCJ and the University of North Florida (UNF) will collaborate to ink and print the woodcuts.

 

                        This year, FSCJ will be exhibiting prints from the campus fine art printmaking press called Trident Editions, selected student works  from FSCJ and UNF, as well as prints from UNF graduate and master printer James Allan. James was an assistant at FSCJ and PrintStudioJax and has his own fine art press in Corpus Christi, Texas. James will also be demonstrating woodcut techniques, producing an edition with Trident and participating in the printing of student blocks.

                         All events will be held at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s South                              Campus. See event description for specific location.

                       Thursday, October 24, 2019

                       Noon-4 p.m. Join guest artist James Allan for demonstrations and                                   discussions on techniques in Building M3, Room M3145

                       5-7 p.m. Gallery reception for guest artist James Allan

                       Friday, October 25, 2019

                      9 a.m. Printmaking process begins

                      11 a.m. Potluck lunch in Building M3, Room M3145

                      Noon Printing demos and t-shirt printing in the West Parking lot between                          Buildings M2 and M3
