Officials said this reorganization will not affect faculty, just the student services department. “So that's admissions, financial aid, recruitment. There's a number of different areas,” said Jill Johnson, FSCJ spokesperson.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida State College at Jacksonville is restructuring the way it does business and 260 current employees will be asked to apply for new positions within the school.

For students at FSCJ, everything appears normal. But beyond the walls of administrative buildings at each one of this college's campuses, some employees have told Action News they are worried about the future of their jobs.

Officials said this reorganization will not affect faculty, just the student services department.

“So that's admissions, financial aid, recruitment. There's a number of different areas,” said Jill Johnson, FSCJ spokesperson.

Action News spoke with Johnson about the complaints Action News received this weekend from employees who feel they're unfairly being forced out by a new FSCJ administration.

“Where we were in student services, we needed to improve in that area. So that's what we are doing. Hopefully all of those individuals meet the qualifications and have the ability to apply for those positions,” Johnson said.

Action News contacted a few affected workers who chose not to identify themselves. One of them doesn't want it to hurt her chances of being rehired.

Officials won't say what the turnover might be, but they want the new team in place July 1.
