WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will pin 171 nursing program graduates at the upcoming Pinning Ceremony on Monday, December 12, 2016.
One hundred and ten of the graduates are receiving their Associate in Science (A.S.) in Nursing, 50 graduates are receiving their Bachelor of Science (B.S.N.) in Nursing and 11 are receiving their Practical Nursing workforce certificate.
Graduates receiving their Associate in Science in Nursing are prepared to take the National Council for Licensure Examination (NCLEX - RN) to become licensed as registered nurses (RN) and function as entry–level practitioners.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program are qualified to provide, design, manage and coordinate health care for increasing complex patients, families and communities.
Graduates receiving their Practical Nursing certification are prepared to provide direct care to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and various health care settings under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
A pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. The graduates are presented with nursing pins by the faculty of the FSCJ nursing school.
