FSCJ’s Frisch Institute for Senior Care Hosts Second Annual Symposium

WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville’s (FSCJ) Frisch Institute for Senior Care is hosting its second annual symposium with the goal to create a culture of excellence in geriatric education through an interprofessional approach.

Consisting of local health care professionals and students in nursing, allied health and massage therapy programs, the audience will learn about emerging advancements and interventions in geriatrics, the highly complex and specific demands of caring for the elderly and end-of-life care. Gerontology experts will share best practices to influence the quality of health care delivery and elevate our aging population’s quality of life.

Symposium objectives include:

·       Discuss diabetic retinopathy and evidence-based interventions.

·       Explore bioethical principles to improve older adults’ outcomes.

·       Understand polypharmacy and the impact of cognitive decline.

·       Examine the power of touch and the importance of physical mobility.
