FSCJ’s BlueWave Athletics Basketball Players Honored for Achievements

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nine Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) BlueWave Women’s and Men’s Basketball players recently received end-of-the-year honors. Sophomore player Malaysia Robinson of Pahokee, Florida, and sophomore player Travis McConico of Jacksonville both earned All Mid-Florida Conference and All Region 8 Team honors.

Robinson was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Region 8 Player of the Week in December 2016. She scored 37 points against Florida Southwestern State College and 21 points against Indian River State College, averaging 29 points per game during week 6. McConico, who attended Sandalwood High School, broke the FSCJ all-time three-point career record with 126.

Freshman Men’s Basketball player Josh Scott of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and sophomore Women’s Basketball player Yolizma Cupidan of Ocoee, Florida, both received 1st Team All Mid-Florida Conference honors. 

D’John James (Palm Coast, Florida), Myron Dewar-Margate (Coral Springs, Florida) and James Harper (Orlando, Florida) earned 2nd Team All Mid-Florida Conference from the Men’s Basketball team. Ashanti Bailey of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Bianca Igwe of Tampa, Florida, earned 2nd Team All Mid-Florida Conference from the Women’s Basketball team.
