FSCJ-OTIEC Honored by United Safety Council

Nov 1, 2022, 10:59 AM
Florida State College at Jacksonville OSHA Training Institute Education Center (FSCJ-OTIEC) was selected by the United Safety Council (USC) Awards Selection Committee to receive the prestigious United Safety Council Partner in Safety Award.

Florida State College at Jacksonville’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center (FSCJ OTIEC) was selected by the Orlando-based United Safety Council (USC) Awards Selection Committee to receive its prestigious annual United Safety Council Partner in Safety Award.

As a host-site training location for OTIEC courses for more than 10 years, the USC suddenly found themselves unable to provide OSHA-authorized Outreach Trainer and other OSHA-numbered courses, particularly the highly demanded OSHA 500 series courses, to their members following an organizational restructuring. FSCJ OTIEC staff collaborated with USC executive leaders and staff to formalize an agreement that allowed USC to continue to serve as a host-site location for these valuable courses to their membership and clients with no interruption. The FSCJ OTIEC has actually tripled previous course offerings at USC and student feedback has been extremely positive.

The FSCJ OTIEC is excited to work with the USC to broaden the reach of OTIEC training, specifically in those areas identified as underserved or unserved workforces, and looks forward to training students from around the world.

The Orlando-based United Safety Council is a non-profit safety training organization founded in 1953. The Council promotes safety in every phase of American life: in the home, on the roads, in schools, government agencies, businesses, and industrial facilities. With six offices and training locations in Florida, the USC trains more than 75,000 students annually.

The Florida State College at Jacksonville OSHA Training Institute Education Center is one of just 27 training centers in the nation authorized to deliver occupational safety and health training courses on behalf of OSHA. The FSCJ OTIEC mission is to provide the highest quality, most cost effective training to employers, workers and safety professionals to broaden employer and worker knowledge and awareness and prevent and reduce workplace accidents and injuries.
