FSCJ Offers Basic UAS Drone Training

YULEE, Fla. – In response to the rising popularity in drones, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will offer a course at the FSCJ Nassau Center designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Remote Pilot knowledge test to earn their FAA Remote Pilot Certificate for commercial drone operation.

The course will be held on Saturday, January 14 and Saturday, January 28, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The class will meet for a total of 12 hours, six hours on each Saturday. Weather and time permitting, demonstration flights may be flown at the end of the classes.

Topics covered in the course include airspace, sectional charts, communications, aviation weather and reports, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) safety, decision making and Part 107 rules governing commercial operations of small unmanned aerial systems.
