FSCJ Hosts Olympic Champion Nancy Hogshead-Makar for Women’s History Month

WHAT: In celebration of Women’s History Month, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will host Nancy Hogshead-Makar to discuss the issues related to Title IX, a federal law that prohibits gender discrimination within educational programs.

Hogshead-Makar is an Olympic champion, civil rights lawyer, public speaker, CEO and activist for girls and women in sports. She leads Champion Womena nonprofit organization focused on Title IX issues regarding sexual harassment, abuse and assault in sport, employment, pregnancy and LGBT inequity.

This will be an interactive event exploring the history of Title IX, the impact of women’s sports today and how Title IX can be implemented into college culture in regards to gender equality.
