FSCJ Dental Hygiene Students on "Mission of Mercy" to Tampa with Florida Dental Association

Florida Dental Association sponsored a Mission of Mercy event at the Florida Fairgrounds in Tampa over the March 28-29 weekend. Hundreds of volunteer dentists, hygienists, assistants, and lab technicians, including Dr. Monica Franklin, Professor Cindy Wampler and 16 FSCJ Dental students provided free dental care to the well over 1,000 underserved patients from the area. Some patients waited more than 10 hours to be seen by volunteers who provided dental care to patients who otherwise would not have access to needed services, some routine and some more critical. Tampa Channel 8 WFLA covered the story of one family whose father tells what it means to have access to dental care that otherwise wouldn't be available.
