As Florida legislators seek to toughen sexual predator laws, Florida State College at Jacksonville reviews its open admissions policy in regard to registered sex offenders. First Coast News reporter Laura Caso interviewed FSCJ Acting President Judith Bilsky who explains the need to balance concerns for student safety and security with the College's mission to provide access to high quality education for those who seek to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Options for consideration are a complete enrollment ban on sex offenders; a limited enrollment or partial ban; or an open enrollment as exists now. According to Dr. Bilsky, the College expects to have a decision in March 2014, stressing that any decision will be based on fact and data. Aired Dec. 18, 2013. Copyright First Coast News.
