Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) BlueWave women’s basketball player Malaysia Robinson, a sophomore from Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Florida, was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Player of the Week. Robinson scored 37 points against Florida Southwestern State College and 21 points against Indian River State College, averaging 29 points per game. Robinson is fifth in the region in points per game following teammate Yolizma Cupidan in third, with 18.1 points per game.
The FSCJ BlueWave women’s basketball team has also moved up in the NJCAA Region 8 rankings to number eight, went 2-0 this week sweeping Indian River 90-49 and Florida Southwestern 83-45 and are 6-3 overall. The team is led by Coach Barvenia Wooten who joined FSCJ in August after most recently developing the Jacksonville franchise of the Women’s American Basketball League (WABL-Hoops).
