FSCJ BlueWave Athletics Adds Women’s Cross Country to Athletic Offerings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville’s (FSCJ) BlueWave Athletics adds Women’s Cross Country to its 2017-18 offerings. BlueWave Athletics is excited to bring cross country back to FSCJ to meet the growing interest of running in Region 8 of the National College System Activities Association.

The addition of Women’s Cross Country allows FSCJ to focus recruitment efforts on local athletes and have the opportunity to offer a greater number of scholarships to students.

“Women’s Cross Country is a great addition to the Athletic Department at FSCJ,” said FSCJ Director of Athletics Ginny Alexander. “Not only is the sport of running popular in the Jacksonville area, it is the only sport FSCJ has won a National Championship in. By adding Women’s Cross Country, I feel we can be highly competitive both regionally and nationally.” 

With the addition of Women’s Cross Country, the BlueWave Athletics Women’s Tennis team will no longer be offered.

FSCJ BlueWave Athletics is currently searching for a talented, experienced coach to lead this future team. Locations for meet options for the 2017-18 season include the University of North Florida, the University of Florida, the University of West Florida, Chipola College, Tallahassee Community College and Pasco-Hernando State College.
