JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) BlueWave Athletics is pleased to announce that Diana Couch will begin her first year as the head women's basketball coach for the 2021-22 season.

Although this is a new role for Coach Couch, she is no stranger to FSCJ, having served as the associate director of athletics from 2018-20. She came to FSCJ from Indian River State College (IRSC), where she was the head women's basketball coach from 2012-18. During her six seasons there, Couch earned a reputation in the league for her defensive strategies and solid student-athletes who annually received FCSAA and NJCAA honors both on and off the court. Couch also helped elevate the importance of academics, earning national recognition by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). She also stressed service in the community, leading her teams to receive the Seacoast National Bank Community Service Award.

"I am extremely grateful to the selection committee and the FSCJ administration for their confidence in me to lead the women's basketball program," said Coach Couch. "Our goal is to put a solid competitive team on the floor, achieve national academic recognition and gain the respect of our community through service. I am excited to return to FSCJ athletics in this new role and am ready to get to work."

Couch's prior experience includes coaching in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, head women's basketball coach at Fort Scott Community College and women's assistant basketball coach at Newman University in Wichita, KS. Couch earned her Associate in Arts degree from Brevard Community College and went on to get an Associate in Science in Photographic Technology from Daytona Beach Community College Southeastern Photographic Institute. She earned her bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida and her Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University - Irvine.
