FSCJ and JSO Host “Coffee with a Cop” On-Campus Initiative
As part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will collaborate with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) for its “Coffee with a Cop” on-campus initiative.
“Coffee with a Cop” is part of JSO’s College Campus Blitz during the week of September 26, 2016. FSCJ students and faculty are invited to attend the free events, which will be held at each of FSCJ’s campuses this month. This will be an opportunity to get to know the local law enforcement officers and informally interact with them one-on-one over a cup of coffee. The event is open only to FSCJ faculty, staff and students on each campus.
Students and employees are encouraged to chat and voice any concerns with the officers who work to keep FSCJ’s campus areas safe. JSO implemented its successful “Coffee with a Cop” initiative throughout Jacksonville neighborhoods earlier this year. The initiative aims to encourage community involvement by promoting open discussions between citizens and police in a comfortable setting at the most local level.
Student Life & Leadership will provide coffee and light refreshments at these events.
