FSCJ and Complete Florida Scholarship Opportunities

Nov 1, 2022, 10:59 AM

Updated 10/7/2020. This program is no longer offered.

In 2014, the Florida legislature created Complete Florida, a statewide initiative to recruit and retain the state's 2.2 million adults with some college and no degree.

Florida State College at Jacksonville responded to this call to action and is currently one out of 11 institutions in the state of Florida that is participating in the Complete Florida online degree completion program.

Impacting the lives of every student, FSCJ is leading the way, removing barriers to degree completion. When students apply to the program they must meet the general admission standards which are found on the Complete Florida website. Each student is assigned a personal Complete Florida coach that will help them decide on a program, create a school schedule that will give them the best opportunity for success and act as a liaison between them and their institution.

Today, out of the 11 institutions, Complete Florida at FSCJ is among the leading schools awarding more than $9,000 in scholarship awards in 2015. Dana Chapman, a Complete Florida scholarship recipient, recalls her experience in the program.

“I was afraid of how I was going to make this work with kids, a husband, work and–well the rest of life. I love my job, but I knew that I wanted more out of life and my time. This program helped alleviate the stress of finding funds for summer school. I was able to focus on what was important instead of working 20 hours of overtime to pay the bills. Now I am one step closer to completion with the help of Complete Florida and the scholarship.”

Looking ahead, in another effort under a separate grant titled Complete Florida Military, the College is expected to distribute an additional $75,000 in scholarships for military families. Through continuous support and motivation students will inevitably achieve an often long-awaited goal, completing their college degree.
