Florida State College at Jacksonville awarded $13.8M Navy Contract

Florida State College at Jacksonville, the largest training provider to the U.S. Navy, has been awarded the Navy Training Support Center San Diego instructional services contract. The contract will be administered by the College's new Military, Public Safety and Security Division (MPSS). This $13.8 million, five-year contract begins Oct. 1, 2010. According to MPSS Vice President Jim Stevenson, the College will provide on-site instruction to more than 22,000 sailors annually, offering more than 600 classes in 50 different subjects. Courses relate directly to the sailors' occupational specialties (standard A and C school training), including engineering, electronics and culinary. The College will also provide remediation and testing, maintenance of technical equipment and curriculum maintenance.
