JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Florida State College of Jacksonville is one of the 28 Florida colleges participating in the new Last Mile Completion Program announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday.

The new program, with the support of The Florida Department of Education and the Florida College System, allows students to complete their degrees and, in turn, creates a stronger workforce for the state, the governor announced in a press release. It was created during the last legislative session.

The schools will voluntarily provide scholarships to students who left college with 12 or fewer credit hours remaining to complete their first associates or baccalaureate degree.

Each college will provide the students with transcripts of the courses they need to complete their degree. In return, the students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Florida resident
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Be within 12 credit hours of completing their first associate or baccalaureate degree
  • Have attended a regionally accredited post-secondary institution within the past eight years

As of Friday, there was no additional information about the Last Mile Completion Program on FSCJ's website.
