Is this the year for President Obama to go for the gold in his fifth State of the Union Address? Dr. Washington looks at his past SOTU and the matters that were addressed--and where we stand on them. What will he have to say about gun control, voting rights, marriage equality and income inequality; will he even address those? Is it time for a different strategy? Is the SOTU about policy, perception, or both? One thing is sure--in her expert opinion, Dr. Washington hopes the president will use this opportunity to get more Americans interested in government and government's role, so they will really begin to understand how it's supposed to work, and to become more truly involved.
