Dr. Andrew Shaw will succeed Tom Majdanics, subject to state Senate confirmation.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the appointment July 12 of a new member and the reappointment of two incumbents to the Florida State College at Jacksonville district board of trustees.

Dr. Andrew Shaw is appointed to succeed Tom Majdanics, a trustee since 2013.

Shaw is a neurosurgeon with Lyerly Neurosurgery at Baptist Health.

He is a member of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the National Association of Spine Surgeons.

A trustee since 2018, Wayne Young is vice president of environmental services at JEA. He served 32 years in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge. Young is a member of the Military Officers Association of America, American Legion, Disabled Veterans of America, Leadership Florida and Leadership Jacksonville.

Michael Bell, a trustee since 2017, is vice president of public affairs at Rayonier Inc.

He is a past president of the Florida Forestry Association and past chair of the Nassau County Economic Development Council.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
