The Stellar Foundation has donated $5,000 to support a new Criminal Justice Center (CJC) Cadet program at Florida State College at Jacksonville that provides academic and career pathways for students interested in pursuing jobs in law enforcement.

This generous gift from the Stellar Foundation will provide cadet uniforms and textbooks for socioeconomically disadvantaged students from local high schools.

Students in the two-year Criminal Justice Center Cadet program will concurrently earn an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Criminal Justice Technology and complete FSCJ’s Basic Law Enforcement Officer program to become eligible for employment with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office or other Florida law enforcement agencies.

Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford donated $50,000 to help start the program and removed the four-year degree requirement to be hired at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for program graduates only.

The Stellar Foundation is the corporate-giving division of Stellar, an architecture, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm.
