Changes In Student Loan Structure Benefit Students Over Time

What changes went into effect when the U.S. government became the provider of student loans? Some really, really good ones, if you're a student.

As of July 1, banks are cut out of the student loan business. Students seeking loans to assist with financing their college educations no longer have to choose a lender--the U.S. government is the provider of direct loans. But other changes include benefits for students, including loan forgiveness for students who keep up with their payments or who go into particular careers. Director of Financial Aid Michele Bowles explains these changes in an interview with First Coast News Reporter Roger Weeder.
