Celebrate our Veterans

Florida State College at Jacksonville will be closed in observance of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2013.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES: Several campuses have scheduled events for students to express their gratitude, and the Aviation Center has arranged a free flight opportunity for Veterans.

At Kent Campus, students will be writing cards to be delivered to troops through USO with "Cards for the Troops," Nov. 12, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Deerwood Center is hosting "Heroes and Veterans Day Celebration." Students will have the opportunity to write letters of appreciation, donate food and donate blood Nov. 7, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Want to see veterans test their wings and see if they have a future in flight?  The FSCJ Aviation Center at Cecil Field has arranged a Fly-In with free Discovery Flights for Veterans for Nov. 10, from 1-5 p.m. Tours of the Aviation Center, one of the most sophisticated aviation and air traffic control facilities in the Southeast, will be available. Free desserts for the kids! Come out and make a day of it!
