AN: FSCJ offering free dental services Sept. 19 to Duval, Nassau elementary students

For the seventh year, parents with children who attend elementary schools in Duval and Nassau counties are invited to bring their children, ages five–12, to FSCJ’s North Campus for the free application of fluoride varnish. Fluoride varnish is an effective means of strengthening teeth to prevent dental decay.
The fluoride varnish is painted onto the children’s teeth quickly and painlessly by FSCJ dental hygiene students under the supervision of dental program faculty. All children will be examined by a dentist prior to the application of the varnish.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must sign a consent form prior to fluoride application. Children will receive oral hygiene instructions, enjoy oral health games and activities and are guaranteed a fun, positive dental experience. All services are free of charge.

More Information: The Dental Hygiene program is a limited access, 20-month program that is located at the College’s North Campus. The College, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has operated the program for more than 40 years. The bulk of the students’ clinical education takes place in the Dental Hygiene Clinic at North Campus where patients from the community receive oral hygiene services from students under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygienists.
