As it works to find a new president, Florida State College at Jacksonville narrowed its list of potential national executive search firms from five to two.

At a meeting Monday, FSCJ board of trustees members Michael Bell and Mac McGehee, working with members of FSCJ human resources, selected AGB Search of Washington, D.C., and Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates of Media, Pennsylvania, as finalists.

Both firms quoted search fees of $75,000 to $90,000.

The trustees next will hold conference calls with both firms Oct. 1.

A final selection is expected the week of Oct. 8.

The trustees anticipate a presidential selection within three to six months of having the search firm in place.

The trustees said they believe the firms already have a pool of potential candidates based on their previous work in higher education searches.

FSCJ has been without a president since Cynthia Bioteau retired May 31 after four years as president.

Kevin Hyde, a partner at Foley & Lardner, became interim president after a search for the interim position was completed prior to Bioteau’s retirement.

Hyde has a record of public service, including two terms on the Jacksonville City Council from 2003-11 and chief administrative officer for Mayor Alvin Brown from July 2011 through August 2012.
