FSCJ Named in “2024 Great Colleges to Work For” Program

Sep 20, 2024, 10:04 AM

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) announced it was named as one of the best colleges in the nation to work for in the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For® program, with a special designation as an Honor Roll Institution.

The results, released today on GreatCollegesList.com and via a special insert of “The Chronicle of Higher Education,” are based on a survey of 216 colleges and universities. In all, 75 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies and FSCJ was one of only 42 to receive the Honor Roll designation.

Honor Roll recognition goes to the top 10 colleges recognized the greatest number of times in each size category. In FSCJ’s first year participating in the program, the College received the Honor Roll Designation in 9 of the 10 categories including:

  • Job Satisfaction & Support
  • Professional Development
  • Mission & Pride
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
  • Confidence in Senior Leadership
  • Faculty & Staff Well-being
  • Shared Governance
  • Faculty Experience
  • Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

“This achievement is a testament to the amazing work that each of our faculty and staff do on a daily basis,” said College President John Avendano, Ph.D. “Our team, the FSCJ family, is what makes FSCJ great; their level of commitment to our students, community and each other is to be applauded, and I’m so pleased their efforts have been recognized in this way.”

A full list of recognized institutions can be found at  GreatCollegesList.com.

The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country.
