FSCJ Awards Scholarship to West Nassau High School Student

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) presented a $1,000 scholarship to West Nassau High School Student Alexandria Patti on May 15. She was selected as the scholarship recipient after attending the College’s first-ever Nassau Takeover Day in April.

Representatives from Nassau County School District (NCSD), FSCJ and West Nassau High School were in attendance for the presentation. Attendees included NCSD Superintendent Dr. Kathy Burns, NCSD Board Member Lissa Braddock, NCSD Director of Secondary Education Natasha Drake, West Nassau High School Principal Dan Snyder and School Counselor Heather Eddy. FSCJ President John Avendano, Ph.D. and District Board of Trustees Chair Michael Bell were also there to celebrate the award.

Following her high school graduation, Alexandria plans to enroll in FSCJ’s Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree program this fall and work toward her goal of becoming a teacher.
