Program Overview

The Aviation Maintenance Administration Associate in Science (A.S.) degree builds upon the knowledge and skills of students’ aviation training by providing the academic skills that enhance communication and management skills as aviation maintenance technicians. The completion of the A.S. degree helps prepare students for employment in entry-level positions in the aviation maintenance industry with excellent promotional opportunities into aviation maintenance administration positions. Upon program completion, students become respected professionals who manage the complex process of maintaining aircraft for safe, smooth flying.

If you have a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certification, it will articulate into this A.S. degree as 25 transfer credits. With an additional 35 hours of academic courses, students will earn the A.S. degree. The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) courses will prepare you with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to successfully pass the FAA certification exams to earn the FAA Mechanic industry certification. This certification is key to starting a great career as an Aviation Maintenance Technician. This degree gives graduates a competitive advantage for promotion as a lead or a supervisor.

Career Options

Graduates of the Associate in Science in Aviation Maintenance Management degree have several career options, including general aviation maintenance, agricultural aviation maintenance, military aircraft repair and overhaul, transport or corporate aircraft maintenance and repair operation (MRO), and airline aircraft maintenance.
