The youth exchange program is designed to strengthen the leadership skills of young people from Central America and the U.S. The college will host 22 high school students ages 15-18 from Belize, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, plus three mentors, at educational workshops in leadership, entrepreneurship, community service and environmental issues.

FSCJ is looking for local families to host these exchange students during their visit. Preferred qualifications for host families include high school age children, a family member with intermediate Spanish language proficiency and the ability to provide transportation to and from the college’s downtown campus.

In addition, the college will select three participants from the Jacksonville area to participate in a 3-week exchange visit to the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua from July 6 to 28.

Those interested in hosting an international student should contact college international student services director Anna Marie Siegel at (904) 632-3248 or asiegel@fscj.edu.
