Get to Know Your Fellow CEC Colleagues - Peter "Max" Sukalo

Jun 20, 2023, 12:16 PM

The Career Employees' Council (CEC) is the representative voice for the Career employees of FSCJ, with the goal to be committed to the continuous development of a collaborative work environment whereby the value and respect of Career employees are elevated through increased recognition, involvement and opportunities to achieve a higher degree of excellence. In this spirit, we put a "spotlight" on one of our members each month.

Max SukaloJuly’s Career Employees' Council (CEC) Spotlight illuminates Academic and Career Advisor Peter "Max" Sukalo. He began working at FSCJ in April 2019. As an advisor, he provides academic advising and career counseling, guiding FSCJ students through the admission, enrollment and career exploration process. His personal goal is to increase student retention and his first priority is to be committed to the success of FSCJ students. What Max likes most about his job is the interactions with students. He enjoys building relationships and provides advice to help them be successful as they progress through their courses, degree programs and graduation.

Max became an active member of the CEC in May of 2022 during the summer team-building event. He was drawn to the principles of the council, and now represents Kent Campus. In addition to being a representative, he's on the APC-CEC team member enhancement commitment, IBPS CARE.

Mr. Sukalo is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelor's in history. He matriculated with a Master’s in Business Management from the University of Florida.

He volunteers outside of FSCJ with MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation. One of the initiatives he is a part of is Fun Fridays, where he promotes academic achievement and positive life skills.

When Max is not working, he enjoys playing tennis. In the past, he was an NCAA tennis coach. He played in the USTA Duval 18 & Over Men’s tennis league and his team is playing for the City of Jacksonville Championship in July 2023.

Our spotlight seeks to showcase a CEC representative from each campus/center at least once a year. Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to the CEC Publicity Committee Chair Vanessa Gordon at CEC@fscj.edu. Learn more about CEC on our SharePoint website, https://fscj.sharepoint.com/teams/CareerEmployeeCouncil.
