On August 2, 55 students and seven faculty from the FSCJ Cosmetology program volunteered their time and talents to provide haircuts and manicures to more than 300 local Veterans at the Homeless Veterans Stand Down event at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

“The City’s annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down event was a huge success. This event meant a lot to our students; many of the students within the cosmetology department have a connection to the military and they saw this event as a way they could give back to those that have served," said Stephanie Bernard, program manager. "This was a great event for us to not only give back to the community, but also for the students to practice their skill set."
